Chief Dan George school mural

I am so excited to show the stages of progress on this mural that I was asked to design for Chief Dan George school in Abbotsford. With the help of teachers and the amazing students at this great school, we have been working on this collaboratively painted mural under my direction.

The kids and teachers did such an awesome job painting today!

Our first day consisted of gridding and drawing the whole mural on the wall and beginning to block in the colors to do the beadwork patterns on top of. Both students and teachers have been invoiced the whole way. We have now had three days to work on this mural and we are close to finishing! The medicinal plants in this mural were all choosen by the teachers and students to accompany the Indigenous plant garden that they are planting at the school with their new greenhouse in their courtyard, based on some of the teachings from @christi_belcourt 's book on medicinal plants sacred to Indigenous people and to the Métis. I can't thank any of our donors enough, for the incredible support that they've shown for this community project, and I will be thanking all of you individually and privately as well. We had 100% of the materials for this project donated, and all the costs are covered so that it does not eat into the budget that the school has for projects.

What an incredible gift for us all to be able to give to the community. I can tell you firsthand how thankful everyone was to have community support like this for such an important project. I've really found a calling in this, and welcome more community projects. I love working with the students and the faculty and the community at large. It's such important work and donating my time for this project feels incredible, and on a day such as this, it feels like exactly what I'm supposed to be doing.

Without the support that all of you have for my business I would not be able to donate my time, or be able to afford to work on such important projects free of charge. Your continued support of me and your purchase of my products allows me to put my energy and time into meaningful work like this.

Thank you to @madihendry for facilitating and organizing this project and to Chief Dan George School for their interest and willingness to educate and explore Indigenous values.
