Caribou Tufted Poppy Pin Workshop - Recorded classes

from CA$50.00

Please read!!:

The first class for this project is happening on Sunday, but I had some extra kits available, so you can take this class after the fact using the recordings (second class is October 18th at 10 am PDT, or just take the classes with your own materials!

Two instructional classes teaching the 2 needle beadwork technique, raised beadwork centre, basic caribou hair tufting, modified picot and single bead edging with special guest Mara Kersey! @mara.kersey.michif.artist

Suitable for beginner and intermediate beaders.

For our first class:

We will be doing introductions and a brief talk about Indigenous Veterans Day and the service of Indigenous people in the Canadian Armed Forces. We will then proceed into the two-needle beadwork technique on wool felt and time permitting, the raised beadwork technique for the centre of our poppy. (Depending on the skill level of the class, we may move this two out second session.)

For our second class:

We will begin with sharing the work that we have done in the past couple of weeks, discuss any troubleshooting or issues that have come up and review any techniques that students have found difficult to understand. We will then invite Mara Kersey to give her talk on Caribou hair tufting, methods that she uses for dying and preparation of the materials, and then explore the tufting technique. This class may run a little bit long, so I may simply do a demonstration of the edging technique as opposed to running through the entire technique during the class.

For those who are taking this as the classes only with no kit:

This is a list of the materials you will need to create the tufted poppy, and the pattern will be sent to you after purchase of your classes. Please print at 100% on your printer on plain paper and transfer in the method of your choice or freehand draw to the best of your abilities. (When printed, the poppy pattern should measure around 2” across).
